WhisperPower’s hybrid propulsion and power systems to be fitted in J-class yachts

Currently being chiseled out at Holland Jachtbouw in Zaandam, the Netherlands, two J-class yachts will soon have hybrid power and propulsion systems by WhisperPower nestled in their bellies. To be delivered by 2011, these systems will have the SY “Rainbow” and the SY “Yankee” power up with some green energy. These yachts reconstructed by Dykstra & Partners Naval Architects will be made ready in time for the London 2012 Olympic Games and will race and charter during these events. Using the hybrid propulsion system, these yachts can accelerate to 5 knots using 2 x 288 VDC/160Ah Lithium Ion batteries (LiFeYP04) without spouting any carbon emissions in the air!

Systems like these in more water-based modes of transport will sure help keep the pollution out of the oceans and seas.
