Volvo is keen on having the fastest Hybrid truck around. So keen that the Volvo Trucks division is now busy building the Mean Green diesel-electric hybrid truck that might just claim the World’s Fastest Hybrid Truck in spring 2011. Trucking ace hailing from Sweden, Boije Ovebrink, will drive this one around. The truck uses a 16-liter Volvo engine and is fitted with Volvo Penta twin turbos, increasing peak output to a whopping 1,900 hp (1,417 kW). An additional 200 hp (149 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque comes out of the electric motor.

The Mean Green sure is quick and we just can’t wait to watch it perform and do the laps, clocking records and rightfully claiming the title it has been built for.
