German automobile giants, Volkswagen have joined the EV parade. The company will soon have its electric vehicles on road, by the year 2013. These will include the world renowned and bestselling electric version of the Volkswagen Golf and an electrified Jetta may follow suit. The company unveiled the Golf Blue e-motion electric car to Chancellor Angela Merkel. The company hopes that the electric Golf when released will be the forerunner in the world of zero-emissions.

The car has some pretty decent specs too. Powered by a 85 kilowatt (114 horsepower) electric motor, it delivers a torque of 200 pound feet, juiced by a 26.5 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery and boasting a drivable range of 93 miles. Europe is eagerly waiting this version of the Golf and will receive the bestseller with arms wide open.
