So what if the Twin Towers were turned into a wreck? USS New York (LPD-21), the fifth San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock being the sixth ship of the United States Navy to be named after the state of New York has been made from the steel that was used in the Twin Towers. The 684 foot, $1.2 billion warship has used at least 7.5 tones of salvaged steel from the Twin Towers for its construction purposes. The steel from the World Trade Center was used for its bow. The vessel can carry as much as 800 marines with their helicopters. I have always known that steel is the most widely recycled product. But the use of recycled steel in a warship has really impressed me a lot. If you are in New York, you can see it today near Zone Zero, on the south tip of Manhattan.
