Ever wondered just how your brand new Toyota Prius journeyed across the ocean to your dealer and finally your Californian home? Well, Toyota sure knows how to keep their acts clean, and have used a hybrid vessel that also carries Lexus and Scion vehicles to the Port of Long Beach area, along with Toyota cars, that then wind up at their respective dealerships. This green vessel called the Auriga Leader was built by Toyota and NYK together and has about 328 solar panels hooked on to it, generating a total of up to 40 kW of electricity. The vessel also uses NiMH batteries that, together with the solar panels, have helped the Auriga Leader save up about 13 tons on fuel consumptions, subsequently cutting emissions by about 40 tons.

A great way to ship in the best-selling hybrid car indeed, Toyota has left us smiling wide with this green endeavor.
