Tokai Challenger car is all set to zoom with Sharp’s solar cells

Construction on Tokai University’s solar car that is equipped with Sharp’s solar cells has been completed. It boasts of highest level of conversion energy in the world. This car will be used in the solar race which is one of the largest of its kind from October 24 to 31, 2009. The Tokai Challenger which is the name given to the solar car is equipped with Sharp compound solar cells developed for outer space applications. The solar cells have an output of 1.8kW and a cell conversion efficiency of 30%. This is the highest in the world as of now. Another point worth saying is that Sharp is the only approved solar cell manufacturer by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
