• The VW Solar Powered Supercar is clean, green and quick

Designer Peter Wilkins isn’t really satisfied with all the supercars we have zooming around everywhere today. They aren’t green enough after all and are gas-o-holics. So, he came up with a concept car design for Volkswagen, which also is an entry at the 2010 Swansea Metropolitan University Degree Show in automotive design. Simply known as the “VW Solar Powered Supercar”, this vehicle shows how just clean and green travel can get, and fast too. To power up, the car turns its face away from the smelly gas pump and integrates photovoltaic cells in its body instead. It uses these to juice up with solar power. The energy generated is used to power up a mid-mounted hydrogen fuel cell stack, resulting in a drive without the smoke and the pitch-black carbon footprint supercars usually leave behind these days.

The car has all the “Vroom!” and “Zoom!” in it to leave you drooling and asking for more. Hopefully we do see this one roll out of a VW manufacturing plant soon.
