The Pope Mobil goes green with pedal-power!

His Holiness The Pope could soon travel in a one-of-a-kind green ride, unlike any his predecessors have travelled in before. Commissioned by the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) after previous pontiff, Pope Benedict, spoke about a green Pope-Mobil, this pedal-powered chariot for the Holy Father is bullet-proof and amour-plated. Currently under development, the contraption will be ready for delivery this summer.

The vehicle uses 8mm bullet-proof Plexiglass windows, an air-conditioning system powered by solar energy, an operational speed of 6mph, blast-proof body panels and a built-in oxygen supply system. Priced at £175,000, this green Pope-Mobil sure beats the vehicles from the past that include the Mercedes ML430 V8, GMS Sierra 6.0 V8, Mercedes G-Glass 5-litre V8, Leyland Motors 24-ton lorry and a Mercedes 600 Pullman Landaulet 6.3 V8.
