The ‘No Driver, No Fumes’ taxi of tomorrow
This futuristic taxi will have no driver, will not emit any kind of fumes and this will make traffic jams and crowded buses a thing of the past. All this taxi has is a button with the word ‘Start’ written on the wall. The cab was unveiled at the Science Museum in London and it can seat four people at a time. This will be in use next year taking passengers from the car park to the Terminal 5. The brainchild is Professor Martin Lowson who has a background in space travel and has worked on the Saturn V Rocket. These bubble shaped taxis are battery powered and passengers can select their destination from a touch screen. These taxis can travel at a speed of 25 miles an hour and will travel along their narrow road system.
You have to choose the destination and then the systems logs the request and send a message to the vehicle which then follows the electronic pathway. If you want to speak to the controller there is a button for that also. Heathrow Airport has purchased 18 of these vehicles to transport passengers and their luggage.
