Alastair Callender from Callender Designs has developed a yacht concept, 58meters, which will be powered from wind, solar and Hybrid Marine Power technology from Solar Sailor Holdings Ltd. This is mainly aimed at owners who are eco-friendly and who do not have a sailing background. This yacht will provide numerous advantages and will be a good appeal to more potential investors. Efficient sailing propulsion is possible due to the patented technology and automation of Solar Sailor Holdings Ltd’s solarsail pivot. The hull is highly efficient and can reach competitive cruising speeds under sail and/or electric motor. The interiors are made from renewable resources. His work will be showcased at Coventry University from 30th May to 4th June 2009. It will include an exclusive 1:48 scaled model.
