Nowadays, the travel industry is booming, despite the recession. Anywhere you go, hotels, travel agents and travel guides are flourishing… people just want to travel and travel and see the world. In a luxurious little resort in the Caribbean, the Jalousie Plantation resort in St. Lucia, guests can now travel around the 192-acre property on the island’s first solar-powered electric golf cart. They want to replace all the resort’s gas-powered carts and mini-busses with these environmentally friendly zero emission electric vehicles. These carts will be designed and built in China and will have a large photovoltaic cell on its roof. St Lucia has a decent mount of sunshine and this is a great way to utilize it. On rainy days, the vehicle can be plugged into the main electrical outlet for charging and perhaps the guests can walk around – the thing people used to do a century ago.

The Jalousie Plantation resort has introduced this to protect the environment with emission free vehicles and also significantly reduce noise pollution. These carts are actually, called NEV – Neighborhood Electric Vehicle.
