• Ride your bike and power your local bus to get a free ticket

This is amazing! There is a new bike sharing program that stores the kinetic energy from the bikes to power buses and in return give cyclists a free bus ticket for helping them out. The Hybrid 2 design by Chiyu Chen takes this idea and technology one step further by using the bikes to put power back into the system. The idea is to put ultra capacitors into the bikes that will harness and store the kinetic energy generated by pedaling and braking. Once the bike is returned, the energy will be transferred into the city’s smart grid and will be used to power hybrid buses. The bikes are equipped with handlebars that display how much energy has been generated over the course of the bike ride.
