Delft University has unveiled the racecar named as Nuna5 powered by solar energy. It is sleek and the university hopes that this car will win their fifth trophy in the World Solar Challenge race. This vehicle is entirely powered by the sun and is also designed in such a way to cross the most difficult terrains of the planet, the Australian outback.

The World Solar Challenge race is one of the toughest in the world. The race is 3000 kilometers long and is between Adelaide and Darwin and runs through the Australian Desert. This year the vehicles are to be equipped with regular tires which will create more drag, thus making it more difficult to achieve the incredible level of efficiency that is required to win the race. Bet there is no fossil fuel vehicle that can achieve this that easily. The Nuna5 is covered in 6 square meters of solar panels and also has a battery to store the energy. The weight has been reduced by 30 kilos making it have a weight of 160 kilos only, which is lesser than it’s predecessor Nuna4. The World Solar Challenge will be held on October 25th and it will be on for several days. May the best team win!
