Apple has revolutionized the world with its little communication device, the iPhone. So much, that it can now be used in bike sharing programs too! A new iPhone application, Social Bikes, has been designed for the people living in the Big Apple, the City of New York, allowing users to drop off, locate, and borrow a bike anywhere, anytime. A GPS device has been hooked on to the wheels of these bikes, and on locking the bike, the application can locate it. Also, docking stations usually needed for bike sharing initiatives aren’t needed for this one, since users can simply use the regular bike racks. This sure will help encourage the people of New York ride healthier, instead of pulling out their gas guzzling cars from garages every time they need to commute.

A great combination indeed between the Apple and the Big Apple, making regular commute a lot greener than it currently is with the promotion of bicycle use! So New York citizens, its time to switch on that iPhone, and pedal away!
