Indianapolis welcomes home America’s largest electric car-sharing program, Blueindy!

Crowned as the biggest electric car sharing program in the United States, Blueindy has finally moved into Indianapolis too! Soon, the folks of Indiana will welcome home a fleet of four-seater cars to drive around the city of Indianapolis. The move will help people get around in an energy-efficient and non-polluting way. French billionaire and EV entrepreneur Vincent Bolloré was joined by Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard at the opening of the Blueindy service.

The service will be fully operational in 8 months and will boast 500 electric vehicles and 200 service locations along with 1,000 charging stations. To borrow an electric car, members simply need to swipe a card at one of the 25 stations and pick up their ride! Quoting the local news station WTHR, “No fee rate has been announced yet for the Blue Indy cars, but city officials say the rates in Paris are about $13 a month for membership and average $4 for a 15 minute rental.”
