• Get over Batmobile, convertible motorcycle is here to fly

The idea of owning a Batmobile has fascinated many of us, especially at times when there is an important meeting to attend, and you are stuck in heavy traffic. Samson Motorworks are close to realizing this dream and are creating a futuristic Multi Mode Vehicle (MMV), a motorcycle that can covert to an aircraft! Considering the aerodynamics and weight related issues of a car, Samson Motorworks are developing two flying 3-wheel motorcycle models, the first model is Skybike with a patent telescoping wing and the second model is Switchblade, with scissor wings that retract while riding on a freeway. These MMVs can reach the maximum altitude of 10,000 foot above sea level and have features like air conditioning and heating, front shock absorber, a side door protection and ballistic shaft recovery system. Along with that it also has rear view video monitor, automatic vehicle leaning, dual lighting system for ground and air, and stereo MP3 input CD player.

The engines on these MMVs have emission controls; hence engines and transmissions are being used after modification to provide power reverse to the propellers for both the models. This is certainly good news for the environment as there will be less pollution as compared to conventional aircraft engines. The initial tests of theses MMVs suggest that it may pass the ultra-low emission vehicle standards of California without exhaust treatment.
