General Motors might just have a fleet of electric vehicles ready to hit the asphalt soon, if all goes as planned that is. General Motors’ Global Vehicle Engineering VP Karl Stracke announced at the “Plugging into the Future Forum” at the Shanghai World Expo that it will soon start chiseling out a fleet of electric cars. This will first be a test fleet, before the cars actually hit the market. The fleet of battery cars will be spread out, around the globe in 2011. In different regions in the world, different cars will be used, all of which will be powered by electricity. That’s not all. Karl Stracke also brought good tidings from Chevrolet in the form of a prototype electric version of the New Sail that is being built.

General Motors will add a touch of green to the automotive industry in the near future with these developments and the test fleets it is building. Hopefully, our GM cars of the future are a lot greener than the ones that rumble down our roads today.
