• Elektra – Electric Powerboat made of Carbon Composite

  • electric_boat.jpg
The UK-based sleek sailing yacht makers, Patterson Boatworks have redefined the classic electric boat by making it eco-powered. An amazing blend of the old and new designed by Nigel Irens is a personification of traditional craftsmanship mixed with state-of-the-art hull dynamics and electric motive technology. The 24-ft. FE Elektra is powered by a 144-volt, 23 kw lithium-iron-phosphate battery array that is good for around 3,000 recharges. It is connected to a Lynch high-torque V-drive electric motor that propels the craft at speeds of up to 15 knots per hour, or seven knots for 80 miles. Apart from these the other green features of the boat are that the hull is made up of high-tech foam-core and carbon composite which is gracefully decked up with English oak, cherry Douglas fir and aluminum-teak topsides.
