• Denmark combining wind energy with vehicle-to-grid in new tests

Denmark is becoming the leading nation on the edge to push for electrification of vehicles. Now Denmark wants to do a test that combines wind power and vehicle-to-grid technology. While wind power is a tremendous renewable source of energy, it doesn’t blow 24/7 365 days a year. Thus a mechanism is required to store energy when the wind blows and use it when it stops. Now this where V2G comes into the picture. Electric vehicles could be used as a temporary buffer during calm air periods. Denmark plans a V2G test on the island of Bornholm, a place that already has enough wind turbine capacity to meet 40 percent of its electricity needs, but only gets 20 percent of its power from wind because of inconsistency.

The scientists would be using plug-in vehicles to evaluate whether capacity utilization of wind power can be improved or not by feeding it back from the grid. If this successful then we will be seeing more wind turbines with the goal of getting half of the power need required from the wind.
