It’s nice to know when organizations go eco-friendly, especially car companies. Very recently Chrysler announced the ‘Double CA$H for Your Old Car’ scheme that emulated the government’s own ‘cash for clunkers’ programs, and now luxury German car maker BMW is following its footsteps with its own incentives program for its new 335d or an X5 xDrive35d diesel models. This scheme gives consumers a $4500 ‘Eco Credit’ on purchase of these models. The company aims to reward American drivers for being more fuel efficient by providing incentives on its most fuel efficient cars.

Since the market is doing a somersault with the blink on an eye, this could very well be a move to increase the falling sales figures of the luxury car. Nevertheless, the scheme will definitely appeal to a lot of buyers who have just come out of the financial crisis. These diesel cars are also eligible for tax credits of up to $1,800, bringing their real prices down even further. With prices like these, owning the BMW won’t be an impossible dream after all.
