Netherlands researchers find way to recycle thermoset plastics
Recycling is now not a trend anymore, it is becoming a necessity. In the Netherlands, researchers have been working day and night to get some of the world’s main problems solved namely finding ways to convert non-recyclable thermoset plastics to be recycled. Normally thermoset plastics unlike thermoplastics can’t be remolded once heated, they only decompose. Chemists at the University of Groningen have created a thermoset plastic that can be reformed when heated.
According to the researchers the plastic can be shredded, melted and remolded at least seven times without affecting its mechanical properties.
