• Eco-friendly wine tasting bar from Newton Vineyard

Care to sip wine off an eco-friendly wine tasting bar? If you are nodding your head in affirmation then take a look at U.K. designer Claire Danthois’ creation. In collaboration with Newton Vineyard, Claire has crafted a six foot bar out of 100% reclaimed materials. The list of green raw materials include wood from barrels once used to age Newton’s Icon Label wines, 300 year-old oak barrels acquired from a wine merchant in England and also glass shelves and steel cables from an architectural site. Priced at a whopping $20,000, only five such green wine tasting bars are made. While one of them will be stationed at Newton Vineyard estate, the others will show up at series of Newton “Unfiltered” events in 2009 in New York City, London and Tokyo. Of these one will go under the hammer for a green cause. 100% of the proceeds will go to Global Green USA, a non-profit dedicated to curtailing global climate change through the creation of green buildings and communities.
