SNEC 4th (2010) International Photovoltaic Power Generation Conference & Exhibition at Shanghai saw the unveiling of Henan Succeed New Energy Material Co Ltd’s new baby, what they chose to call the “ultra transparent glass”. This glass is designed to increase photovoltaic cell energy conversion efficiency by a sweet 2% to 3%.

Made by slapping on a 100nm-thick anti-glare (AR) film with silicon oxide on a glass surface, this glass meets the “GB/T19394-2003” and “GB/T18912-2002” durability standards. A SiO2 powder, measuring a few nanometers, is dissolved in a solvent, applied to the glass surface and then heated at 700°C. Glasses like these are bound to find their way on the glass exteriors of our city skyscrapers.
