Bus stops are going greener by the day, adopting new and eco-friendly designs. We came across the Transit Shelter sometime ago and have stumbled on yet another such green bus stop, the TU colibri, a creation by Beatriz Cockburn. This one in particular is more of a work of art infact, and looks beautiful enough to make one want to wait longer for a bus. The bus stop was commissioned by Peruvian national transport company TU colibri and features the use of an intuitive color identification system that helps identify buses. These color codes help the not-so-literate as well as foreigners understand bus routes better. Solar panels on the roof of this bus stop power up all the electronics like the touch sensitive information block and the LED lights to indicate the changed route information.

This one sure gives the Peruvian mass transit system a touch of green with the use of technology, innovation and a lot of eco-friendly thinking.
