• Solar-powered welding helmet keeps the harmful radiations away

A Chinese company, Wuhan Welhel Photoelectric, has launched a solar powered welding helmet that protects against harmful radiation by using sunlight. Powered by sun’s goodness, the model WH8711 helmet features a face shield that automatically darkens up to shield against UV/IR radiation. Such an auto darkening feature automatically adjusts at a rate of 1/25,000 second with 0.15 to 0.8 second delay time. It also supports DIN 4/9 to 16 shade levels. Though that’s all that we can talk green about this product, the $34 helmet comes with its share of other noteworthy specs.


    Product page describes them further – The product comes with a 100x90x8mm filter cartridge with 100x49mm view window. It operates and stores in temperatures within –5 to 55 C and –10 to 64 C, respectively. A Li-Mi backup battery provides at least 5,000 hours of welding time.
