The German army has taken its baby-steps towards eco-friendliness recently, with Munich-based SFC Energy producing the portable Jenny fuel cell for the force. The Jenny fuel cell system is being specially designed for the German army and with the help of solar panels, can power up a wide range of devices including radios, navigational equipment, night-vision equipment, laser range-finders, portable computers, and PDAs. It’s portable too, meaning that the Jenny fuel cell can be used while on the move too. An order of US$1.4 million has been placed by the German army for these cells.

And with that, the protectors of Germany get a touch of green energy.
