Sharp Corp has now come up with an upgraded version of solar cell module for its handsets. This is an upgraded version of the previous solar cell module that they had introduced. The physical dimensions and the output have been improved. The output was improved from 300mW to 450mW. The company said that it is possible to reduce the thickness to 0.6mm. Also, Sharp enhanced the conversion efficiency of the cell and improved the modularization process. The surface of the new module is black, and no electrode can be seen on it. So, it is possible that the module is equipped with back-contact cells, which have electrodes only on the back side. When electrodes are formed only on the back side, monocrystalline silicon is normally used to expand the lifetime of a device mounted with the cells.
