Dudes from the giant computer firms Samsung and Lenovo got together to showcase all their green initiatives that they are currently involved in. The focus was on the solid state – SSD drives. They are opted out more these days because they are faster than traditional hard drives, run cooler, are more shock proof and also require less power. Samsung’s entry Enterprise Solid State Drives boasted 38% less power than traditional server HDDs, while also being a lot faster than traditional HDDs. They also use this on their laptops and netbooks and require as little as 1/8th the power of traditional HDDs.

Lenovo’s contributions were also big – they have a total of 25 Energy Star compliant products in their lineup. They howcased their power manager software that features an intuitive interface that lets you adjust power saving settings just by moving a slider, which in turn, dims the brightness and turns off your optical drive and wifi. Aside from all this the Diji-Touch was also launched. These are the next generation vending machines that uses Samsung’s touch screen LCDs. Other than going for your favourite chocolate, you can also play games and have the option to win prizes. It will be launched only by next year.
