• Gratzels thin, translucent, colorful solar powered radio

Life without color is as dry as a design without innovation. Prof Michael Gratzel’s Heilo DAB Radio is where these two collide so beautifully. Colors and technology blend brilliantly and has led to this radio winning the World Technology Award. This radio design uses colorful Gratzel panels which are transparent and also gives a psychedelic look and feel in the room. The concept has taken inspiration from the process of photosynthesis that uses suns light into electricity. The solar panels get their vibrant hues from vegetal ink, thus increasing the green quotient. The LED panel and the speakers only add to the style of the radio. I would love to have this on my bedside. Not only does it look so trendy, but I will also make a difference by using solar energy.
