The Recycling Truck in the line comes with movable recycling bed and open/shut rear door. It also does without the use of metal axes. Exposing the kids to such environmentally responsible toys will also help to instill eco-values from a tender age.

    As the weekdays steers towards weekend, take a break with this cute solar powered bugbot, dubbed Cthulhu that promises to vibrate your funny bone with a green style. Only if you managed to pronounce its name correctly you can move further to read about its weirder personality. This solar powered octopus soaks in all the sunlight and starts wobbling all over the place. Though it seems to be an entertaining plaything, this bugbot can be a scary thing for kids or folks with weak nerves. And what’s more nervy is that it silently soaks in the light from indoor fixtures too. When full on energy, out of the blue, he will simply wiggle out of its position and scare the hell out of people sitting around.     SG5 Solar mesh wetsuits soak the sun to keep the surfers warm

    Surfing is a water sport activity that can be indulged in all round the year. However when the temperature dips, the cold waves deter many surfers from slipping into their wetsuits. Billabong has a way out for such times with a wet suit that can keep the wearer warm by soaking up the sun. In time for the winters of Australia, the maker is realizing the SG5 Solar Mesh wetsuit that promise to keep the surfer warmer by 30% more than any nylon suit. Fitted with thermal solar panels in a patent solar mesh on the front and back, the rest of the suit is shaped out of Zero Gravity Superflex neoprene. It also comes with all the other routine features like 100% externally welded seams, flexible side panels, silicon grippers, superflex kneepads etc. No official word on the pricing but it is known that the SG5 Solar Mesh wetsuit will be able from March onwards in three sizes and in front, back or zip-free options.

Resorting to such a construction material helps to reduce about 180,000 tones of CO2 per year. The whole set up is powered by LA Department of Water & Power’s Green Power resources. The place dazzles with multi-colored, energy-efficient, state-of-the-art LED lighting system that is exclusively designed and installed by Disco Designer and Cosmos Lighting. The menu too boasts of lip smacking organic cuisine and liquors.

    Tesco throws open the doors of an eco-friendly supermarket in UK

    Every time I stop by at the local supermarket to pick up my groceries and veggies, I speculate about the amount of energy the colossal store would be consuming to keep it well lit and at the correct temperature. But Tesco, UK’s supermarket giant is on its way to serve consumers as well as our planet by throwing open the doors of an eco-friendly supermarket in Manchester. Spread over 52,000 sq ft store, the supermarket boasts of many eco-friendly features that may lure eco-shoppers to stop by for shopping. Situated at Cheetham Hill, it has managed to cut down about 70% of carbon foot print than the other comparable stores. Refrigeration will come from an environmentally friendly carbon dioxide system, and will use 15% less than a normal cooler.

    LG’s Solar and Wind powered Sky Charger at CES 2009

    Yesterday we spoke about a solar powered Bluetooth speakerphone from LG and today it’s the Sky Charger that has bought LG back on Greenlaunches. Harnessing sun and wind’s energy, this colossal mobile phone charger is ideal for public gathering where almost 144 folks can add juice to their cell phones at one time. This tent like structure houses the same number of lockers with the relevant mobile chargers that are attached to the central generator. Simply get hold of one vacant locker, connect the handset and lock it back to return in an hour for an energetic cell phone. LG has been generously green by not limiting this service to LG handsets only. This pyramid shaped green mobile phone charger is certainly a boon for the visitors at the ongoing CES 2009.

    Green Bible preaches holiness in an eco-friendly manner

    We bought your attention to the green personality of the Pope and the Nuns. Also the most eco-friendly and energy efficient Church found a mention on Greenlaunches. Treading on the green religious route, today we pause to read about the eco-friendly Bible. The holy book is printed on a recycled paper with soy ink. Sporting a sustainable beige linen cover embossed with a green picture of a tree, this Green Bible covers the Old and New Testament inside.     Queen of England switches over to biofuel powered Bentleys

    With the media monitoring every move of theirs, it is difficult for the Royal family to keep the glare of publicity at bay. However it’s the green limelight that they won’t mind basking in. The latest from Buckingham Palace is that Queen of England is going to ride in biofuel powered Bentleys. The Queen has given a nod to replace the engines of the two state limousines with more eco-friendly engine that can run on plant-derived fuel. And this ‘flex-fuel’ system will also allow the vehicles to run on conventional petrol. Priced at £10million each, these majestic vehicles will not leave a trace of carbon footprint when powered by the vegetable fuel. Such a new powertrain will also offer a 40 per cent fuel economy improvement by 2012. Three cheers for green royalty!
