Recycled sink cum towel rail by Sanindusa

    sanindusa.jpg
Bathroom fittings are a designers dream as there are so many ideas that can be formed that you wouldn’t mind spending so much time thinking of your neighbour’s loo. Join is this cool bathroom sink which is made of 100 per cent recycled materials. It is also very attractive. It has an extended hand that has a towel holder so that you don’t have to always scourge the wall for the towel. And so it’s the union of the towel rail and the sink that gave its very obvious name – Join. This concept is designed by Melissa Vilar for Sanindusa and the sink is made of china.

    Mini green-house effect by Bel-Air

    belair.jpg
Since global warming is such a concern and since we can’t actually be carrying around green houses to go green, a couple of intelligent heads thought to invent just that. This is referred to as a mobile mini green-house or living filter called Bel-Air. It absorbs and metabolizes noxious chemicals and particles from the air that circulates in homes. This was created by Parisian industrial designer Mathieu Lehanneur and Harvard scientist David Edwards. So what it does is, act as an air purifier that continuously inhales polluted air, forcing it through three natural filters prior to releasing it back into the space, purified.

Eco composter for a healthier and greener garden

    composter.jpg
Here is an eco-composter. A composter is an object used for composting. Composting is the natural speeding process where ‘microorganisms break down complex organic matter into simple, nutritious topsoil’. It is an old fashioned style object that is coming back into use as the fears of global warming rises. The eco-composter tumbler has a capacity of 71 gallons and is made of 100 per cent recycled materials. The tumbler breaks down fresh material in the shortest amount of time to create rich black soil. The spherical shape and special base allows the object to rotate easily in any direction for easy mixing. A patented internal air tube system allows an open flow of air from the outside, directly into the center of the composting material. It can also be used in all weather conditions.

Pedal-Powered Skycycle – The greenest rollercoaster of all

    skycyc_main.jpg
Green or otherwise, rollercoasters are not for me. But for those who seek thrill and get high by moving up great heights, rollercoaster rides are a must. And here is one such breathtaking ride that promises a journey upwards but with a slight twist. Skycycle at Washuzan Highland Park in Okayama, Japan, is certainly not the steepest or the fastest but it is touted to be the greenest rollercoaster. And how did it manage to get that title? Well, this towering bike trail is pedal powered. That means it doesn’t consume any electricity. The park only depends on the grid for illuminating the path after the sun set. Since this ride isn’t about speed, it is bound to attract visitors who seek a different kind of pleasure. Also the task of pedaling upwards doesn’t seem to be as easy as sitting in an electricity powered ride where its just a matter of seconds to reach threatening heights.

Pamela Anderson walks the ramp for Richie Rich’s eco-friendly line Muse

    pamela.jpg
Yup, it has finally reached. As is typical in any case of a trend, now the go-green has seeped into the lap of fame. Oddly though a very un-typical entity has been chosen to promote the message – Pamela Anderson. Apparently she has agreed to get into line with Richie Rich’s new eco-friendly range called Muse. This will be launched in summer and will feature casual yet eco-friendly garments. Aside from being ‘friends forever’ and she having been an ‘inspiration’ for him, he is also the guy who designed her wedding dress, which wouldn’t have taken much time considering who its for.

Eco friendly gold from San Diego Jewelry Buyers

    goldbars.jpg
You will think that with all the efforts to go green, people are becoming a tad bit smarter, but they are also getting a little too weird. San Diego Jewelry Buyers has joined hands with award-winning designer Timothy Meier to provide an eco-friendly, green fine jewelry to the city’s residents. So if you are living in the vicinity, what you can do is, take some of the gold you possess, go to the SDJB shop exchange it for cash. The shop then refines the jewelry, mints it into one ounce of ‘eco-friendly’ gold bars which will then be converted into some fine jewelry, which obviously means that the prices will increase considering all the efforts that has gone into it. Selfish world.

States boast 60 per cent increase in renewable energy use in 2008

    USenergy.jpg
The US may have messed up a bit of accounts and pulled the world into the quicksand but it also has a few things to be very proud of. The most important one is that about 60 percent of the new generating capacity added in the US last year revolves around new renewables including solar, wind, geothermal and other renewable energy devices. Travis Bradford who heads up the Prometheus Institute that conducts research noticed this achievement.

US workers have spent $2.8 billion only by not switching off their PCs

    UScomputers.jpg
So many reasons to why the financial downturn happened in the states and one point, though a little irrelevant, but nonetheless important is the results of a report that states the US to be spending up to $2.8 billion wasting energy. That is climbing from $1.7 billion from two years ago! Yeah you would think that all that Inconvenient Truth would do some good, but no! Apparently ‘50% of US workers don’t power down their PCs at night and ironically over 60% of employees feel their company should be doing more to reduce energy consumption.

Powered Body Board – Solar powered electric sea-scooter turns into sub too

    powered body board_main.jpg
As scorching sunrays pierce through the atmosphere to heat up our planet to unbearable limits, people take to water bodies to beat the heat. Kevin O’Doherty has conceived a well-designed product that promises to lure many more to hit the seas. Dubbed, Powered Body Board, it is an eco-friendly sea-scooter version that allows users to dip under water or simply ride over the waves with ease. Powered by a 12V rechargeable battery, it is also fitted with solar panels into the board that allow for trickle charging during periods of non-use, extending the use of a single battery by 30%. Now that adds on as a green feature along with the electric battery. The well-designed body promotes adjustable buoyancy for effortless wave riding and also to submerge up to 100ft/30m.
