Not everyone around the globe has access to environment friendly water purification systems. So the next best, cheap and easily available way out to purify water for them is boiling. This burning up of firewood however has its adverse effects on the environment. It leads to the cutting down of trees and also the emission of green house gases.
Taking this into consideration, WWF has suggested the use of a solar powered water purification system known as the Solvatten. Widespread distribution and use of systems like the Solvatten can help reduce the emission of green house gases like carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by a colossal 26 million tons every year, by the landmark year, 2020. The Solvatten water purification system uses the sun’s rays for water treatment and heating, hence reducing the use of firewood.

It takes an average of two to six hours to make around 10 liters of consumable water. This without doubt will give people an environment friendly water purifier and will pave the way for cleaner water and cleaner air!
