The money is going to be raised from his followers around the world. But that is not all. This statue is special. It will produce solar energy making it a green statue. The statue will be coated with photovoltaic paint which will enable it to trap the sun’s heat and produce heat. The planning and construction of the project will be near the town of San Giovanni Rotondo in the southern province of Puglia. This will go for international tendering in the coming few weeks. Why is he so famous? Well a brief introduction of him, you will know why. Padre Pio’s real name was Francesco Forgione. He was born in 1887 and died in 1968 at the age of 81. He was just a teenager when entered the church and then later became a Capuchin Monk. His followers believed that he performed a lot of miracles when he was alive and he also had the crucifixion wounds of Christ. A survey also revealed that more Italians worship Padre Pio than Christ or Virgin Mary.
