• Earn money by powering the grids with electric vehicles

Reverse back the budget-killing reality of spending money to run a car with the latest concept of earning money off the same car. Bless Stein who has come up with this idea of powering the national grid with the electricity generated from the electrical vehicles (EVs) when not in use. This ground-breaking concept is dubbed, vehicle to grid (V2G). It is based on the fact that most of the cars are not being used and spend about 90 percent of their time motionless. Such an income generating scheme is boon for folks who walk to work or make the best of public transport and let their cars rest in garages.

However this system will require the car to plug into a socket, which can facilitate the electricity flow in and out of the battery. Renting out electrical storage in this way could make electric vehicles more affordable, while also removing the need for backup electricity generators. The National Science Foundation is generously funding Stein and his team with a $2 million grant to explore the possibility of V2G technology using plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
Though this whole setup may take about a decade to be functional, such a money-making eco-friendly proposal will always be welcomed by all electric vehicle owners with open arms. Read more about the functioning of V2G concept in details here.
