• Christmas tree powered by electric eels at Enoshima Aquarium in Japan

  • Eel.jpgNow here’s an energy source for lighting up Christmas tree we’ve never heard of before. Solar energy? Neah! And no, it isn’t the wind, heat or anything as such powering up this tree. This one lights up with energy from Electric eels! The Enoshima Aquarium in Japan came up with a novel way of having its Christmas tree lights glow, using 800 watts of energy generated by the eels, floating around in a tank. And with that, we can’t help day-dreaming of just how much energy all those electric eels in the world could generate for us. Well, the Aquarium guys are busy imagining an enormous tree lighted up by electric-eel power that can be seen from space.

Well, we’ve sure figured out just how to light up our fish tanks at home now. Simply throw in a couple of these electricity generating slithery eels!
