• Camels to be used as mobile solar powered refrigerating systems in Africa

  • camel-power.jpg
Ships of the desert carrying solar panels and a refrigerating system may sound unheard of and bizarre. The Nomadic Communities Trust of Kenya in a joint venture with Princeton University and The Art College of Design in California however, has proposed this novel way of reaching out to the far-flung areas of the wilderness by using camels to transport solar powered refrigerating systems. This system can be used to store medical products in places that are out of reach and lack electrical supply. Portable lightweight solar panels with a foot powered backup system will be strapped onto the camels back.

A high tech ergonomic frame will be used. This will avert uneasiness to the camel and make transportation of the system around deserts easier. The camel will now be a true reprieve to the people of the desert, and will provide solar energy and a refrigerating system besides the usual milk, meat and hide!
