A short while ago, we wrote about Boeing’s intentions to develop solar panels. The firm, famed for those flying machines they make, are now all ready to begin large scale production of these highly efficient concentrator photovoltaic cells (CPV) known as the C3MJ+. And when Boeing speaks about efficiency levels, they mean to seriously push it up the ramp. With an average conversion efficiency of 39.2 percent, these cells currently hold the highest conversion efficiency to ever hit market shelves. Produced by Spectrolab, Boeing’s completely owned subsidiary, these cells will receive a technology boost in the form of the C3MJ cells under development, with an even higher conversion efficiency of 38.5%.

Well, we sure can’t wait to have a bunch of solar panels from Boeing propped up on our roofs, soaking in the sun!
