Love River plays home to five new solar powered tour boats

The Love River will now have a bunch of solar powered tour boats sailing around, all inaugurated recently by the Kaohsiung City Government. Mayor Chen Chu proudly stated that these five solar powered boats, calmly sailing around, are a new face to tour boats. She also hopes that a few more of these boats, probably 10, show up soon too. These will replace the 15 love boats owned and operated by Kaohsiung City Shipping Co. each of the solar powered boat costs around $232,000. Charged by 18 solar energy panels and two sets of 12 lithium batteries, these boats make sure they keep the water clean, without releasing exhaust. Also, the boats are much more cost effective than diesel ones, about 6.7 times more to be precise. Each of these solar powered boats can carry 36 passengers, taking them on an environment-friendly and green boat tour on the Love River.

Indeed a green initiative by the Kaohsiung City Government, these boats are sure to spice up this tourist attraction!
