What do you get if you tweak a Porsche Cayenne V8 to reduce its CO2 emissions? The Schaeffler Group ended up with a Porsche Cayenne V8 that boasts 10.1% better fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions of the same amount. Christened as the CO2ncept-10%, this vehicle has its engine modified with its hydraulic cam phasers replaced with electromagnetic units. A minimized friction in the chain drive, use of electromechanical roll stabilizers and other customizations has helped reduce its CO2 emissions. Famed for being bulky and hefty, SUV’s are known to drink those extra liters of fuel and give out an equally large amount of pollution.

The Schaeffler Group however, was able to reduce the cars emission levels and increase its fuel efficiency without stripping it of its bulk or replacing the engine. This is undeniably remarkable and can be a stepping stone to the manufacturing of cleaner vehicles in future.
