The summer sun shines down bright in the city of Pune in India, and two businessmen, Ayubkhan Pathan and his nephew Imrankhan Pathan decided to make the best of the sun’s rays. The dealers in electric goods have designed a solar power bike, good enough to travel about 250 kilometers so long as the sun stays bright overhead. Ayubkhan has been chiseling out the design for his bike since the last three years now and has finally come up with this ingenious piece of automotive engineering. Packing a DC supply, DC battery charger and DC motor, the bike hooks on to solar PV panels and can go 200-250 km on a sunny day with speeds of up to 40-50 km per hour, good enough to serve well in urban India.

Complete with energy efficient lights, and a weight reduction of 25-30 kg done to the modified bike, this one could just be the next breakthrough in alternative-energy powered vehicles!
