As the need for green commuting is gaining ground, world’s first affordable and practical hydrogen car is unwrapped in London. Developed by Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies, this two-seater zero emissions hydrogen-electric city car rolls out with an expected fuel consumption equivalent to 360 miles per gallon. This is estimated to be six times better than today’s best available hybrid electric vehicles. Developed by Riversimple, this small city car integrates a 6kW fuel cell from Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies. The company intends to make such a green car affordable by leasing it out for just 200 pounds Sterling ($315) per month. Easy on pockets as well as environment!

Being light in weight this hydrogen car can zoom for 240 miles (390 km) on one small tank of hydrogen weighing only 2.2 lbs (1 kilogram). Top speed is 50mph and the 200 mile range vehicle accelerates from 0-30mph in 5.5 seconds. The car integrates five new technologies including regenerative braking, electric hub motors, fuel cells, and more. Also the car can be produced locally which helps to reduce the carbon footprints otherwise set due to cross-country transportation.
