BMW 1 Series is now electric with the debut of ActiveE Concept

bmw1_activeE_concept_1.jpg As BMW goes green, so do their concept cars. Our beloved Bimmer will now need to be plugged in instead of filled up. Known as the ActiveE Concept, this electric car based on the BMW 1 Series is sure to spark its way to glory with its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in 2010. The ActiveE will let you cruise around guilt free, without spewing CO2 in the atmosphere because of its zero emission rates. This car can push itself to 60mph in about 8.5 seconds, thanks to its 170 HP of power and 184 lb-ft of torque. This car can charge up in just 4.5 hours using a 220 volt power supply. The car has a working range of up to 100 miles on a fully charged battery. The manufacturer of this vehicle, BMW, plans to start a sub-brand for energy efficient and low emission vehicles. Plans for this new brand are uncertain, but the ActiveE does push BMW towards the goal it looks to achieve. bmw1_activeE_concept_2.jpg bmw1_activeE_concept_3.jpg bmw1_activeE_concept_4.jpg bmw1_activeE_concept_5.jpg bmw1_activeE_concept_6.jpg bmw1_activeE_concept_7.jpg
