• A vehicle shaped by students burns 1,500 miles on a gallon of gasoline

This might sound unbelievable, but a team of engineering students from the University of Ottawa have developed a vehicle with an incredible mileage, 1,500 miles (2,414 km) using only one gallon of standard unleaded gasoline (3.79 liters). Amazing, isn’t it? That’s exactly what we thought too! Now judging by its appearance, this vehicle does look like a skateboard, more than a full-fledged automobile, but then again, its size, weight and compact body structure do lend a hand in keeping its mileage incredibly high.

The vehicle has earned its second place at the SAE Supermileage Competition that took place last month. The developers hope to further tweak it, and break the world record, having the vehicle travel over 3,200 miles (5,150 km) on a gallon of gas. Weighing around 54 kilograms, this one can travel up to speeds of 31mph. a mileage like this for city cars would be a dream come true!
