Veos will collect energy while doing laundry

veos2.jpg In order to save energy from individual appliances efforts are now being introduced to generate energy from them. Washing machines have been labeled as one of the most energy consuming home appliance and so designer Joe Brussel came up with a concept called the Veos. It is a fabric softener dispenser, shaped in the form of a small cricket ball that harvests the potential kinetic energy generated while the machine is in use. What you do is, put the ball in the machine and the ball catches the speed and heat generated in the wash. It is made of a matrix of free-floating zinc/oxide nanowire plates and soaks in most of the wasted kinetic energy that is generated during the wash and dry cycle.

Veos does not require any inputs. It stores the harvested energy till you unload it back into the grid, thus save on electrical costs.
