United Airlines replaces paper flight manuals with 11,000 Apple iPads
United Airlines recently decided to ditch paper use, and opted for iPads instead, with technology pushing away conventional paper flight manuals. In an environment-conscious move, the airline decided to upscale its technology and reduce its carbon footprint, and decided to start off by distributing 11,000 iPads to make paper-use for flight manuals obsolete. The pilots will use Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck, a premiere application for the iPad with interactive, data-driven enroute navigation information and worldwide geo-referenced terminal charts.
This sure serves the purpose a lot better than paper flight manuals, and does the environment a huge favor too!
