Orange Solar Concept Tent glows for eco-campers of the future

Orange_Solar_Concept_Tent.jpg Orange wowed folks visiting the Glastonbury Festival with their Orange Power Pump gadgets charger. With an aim to look at how the festival goers communication and power supply needs might be met in the future, the company has conceived the Orange Solar Concept Tent. Teaming up with American company Kaleidoscope, such an innovative tent will allow campers to juice up their cannot-do-without gadgets and keep in touch too. Concept Tent’s solar shell consists of photovoltaic fabric in form of three directional glides which can be adjusted through the day to maximize its solar efficiency. Fitted with innovative “glo-cation” technology, it will enable campers’ mobile phones to identify their tent using either an SMS message or automatic active RFID technology. Such a system will glow up the tent for easy identification. Once inside, a central wireless control hub displays the amount of energy generated and consumed. It also provides a wireless internet signal. And all this green information will be displayed on a flexible, touchscreen LCD display screen.

Also controlled by the central hub is an internal heating element embedded within the tent’s groundsheet; this under floor heating is triggered automatically once the interior temperature falls below a set level.

However this is still in conceptual stage and will shape up to celebrate Orange’s 11th year at Glastonbury. Till then make merry with Orange Chill ‘n’ Charge tent this year at Glastonbury again.
