Emergent’s Flower Street reactor can make oil by photosynthesis

emergent-flower-street-bioreactor.jpg Emergent, who are Los Angeles based architects have designed an installation that has been filled with algae that can produce oil by photosynthesis. The Flower Street BioReactor is made of transparent acrylic and contains LED lights that vary in color and brightness for maintaining the ideal conditions for the algae. This installation was developed for the Department of Cultural Affairs to raise awareness of alternative fuels.
